There were people from all over the world, and TONI, our guide, was charming, knowledgeable about the process and product, accommodating, and helped everyone have a great time. And the “tour” we took (really a multipart presentation of Tullamore’s history and the basic process of whisky making) was a nice little revisit of how folks make fire water. ![]() The food in the restaurant was delicious and exactly what we needed after more than a day straight of travel from the U.S. The inside is warm and inviting, the gift shop has something for the whisky lovers in your life. The building is handsome and authentic looking, given Tullamore’s history in the town. The center’s situation on the Grand Canal is idyllic. Though the building we visited wasn’t the distillery, as I thought originally, and was rather the “welcome center,” the experience still didn’t disappoint. Are itinerary included an immediate drive cross county to Galway, so we’d been planning stopping at Tullamore since we saw it was more or less halfway there.
